The turtle was on the bank of the stream at the park. Bryn spotted him as he jumped into the water and she shouted for me. I dashed over to her and she pointed to the tiny turtle. I reached slowly into the water and then I snatched him. His shell is the size of a quarter. He has probably hatched within the last few days, and his shell is still soft. He has a yellow belly with two small black streaks in the center. He nipped a few times when we caught him, but he has not bitten since. I plan on keeping him in the fishpond we have in the backyard. For his food he can eat minnows that we catch in the stream. We decided to name him Winston.
